Quick Tests Before Booking
- Remove the portafilter and run water through the group head. If little or no water comes through, there may be a blockage, pump issue or scale restriction.
- Run water without coffee. If water flows without coffee but not with coffee, the grind may be too fine or the basket may be blocked.
- Check the water tank is seated correctly and contains water.
- Check the steam wand tip for blockage if steam is weak or missing.
- Listen for the pump. A loud dry pump noise can suggest the machine is struggling to draw water.
- Stop using the machine if it leaks heavily, trips the electrics, smells burnt or makes unusual electrical noises.
Cleaning, Descaling & Backflushing
- Use the cleaning mode shown in the manual for your exact Sage model.
- Use Sage-compatible cleaning tablets only where your model supports a cleaning disc or tablet routine.
- Do not put cleaning tablets directly into the water tank.
- Use a Sage-compatible descaling product and follow your model’s descale instructions.
- Do not force repeated descale cycles if water will not flow through the machine.
- Keep the portafilter, basket, group head area and steam wand clean to reduce coffee oil and milk residue build-up.
