These simple checks take a couple of minutes and could save you a call-out — or help our engineer diagnose the fault faster if you do book a repair.
Clear The Lint Filter
A full lint filter is the single most common cause of a dryer not heating properly or taking too long to dry. Clean it before every load if possible.
Check The Vent Hose Isn't Blocked
On vented dryers, check the hose running to the outside wall isn't kinked, crushed or blocked with built-up lint — this restricts airflow and heat.
Check The Door Is Fully Shut
Most dryers have a safety switch and won't start unless the door is closed properly — check nothing is trapped in the door seal.
Check The Drum For Loose Items
Coins, buttons or other small items left in pockets can cause loud banging noises and, over time, damage the drum or drive belt.
